Absolutely treated horribly, a few issues over the years but most recently was them failing to even return my vm on the emergency line and a billing issue. They are literally thousands of vets in the area no reason to risk it here

I’ve been bringing my kitties here since 2005 and EVERY TIME, all the doctors have been so polite, gentle, caring and professional. Durango Animal Hospital is about 12 miles from where I live and there is another veterinary hospital about 5 miles away, I took my baby there once and they were nice and professional, but I’m still using Durango. The staff and doctors are so nice and it’s very obvious they truly care about my baby. I suggest this place very much. If I could give them 10 stars, I would.

The list is long on why we love Dr. McDermott. Most recently my 11 year old Schnauzer Barkley had a very large cyst on his left back hip and appeared to be in a lot of pain. I was unaware at the time but the cyst had actually ruptured. I text Dr. McDermott and explained what was going on with Barkley. Doc told me to bring him in first thing in the am and he would squeeze us in for an exam. When we arrived Dr. McDermott told me he wanted to do surgery and prepared me that the incision was going to be very large due to the size of the cyst. When Barkley came out of surgery Doc called and explained how the surgery went and he wanted to send the cyst out for additional testing because it just appeared different then the rest; it was not cancer thankfully. Barkley has to have surgery almost every year because he has cyst on a regular basis. When I got Barkley home he was in pain and I was a wreck. I again text Dr. McDermott freaking out and he was so patient and understanding while calming me down. Barkley had a very rough recovery but Doc was always a text away and never hesitated to provide me with words of encouragement. He is an amazing doctor who truly understands that our fur babies mean so much! We are very blessed to have him as our doctor.

When my dog was attacked by a dog the neighbors were dogsitting, I had no hope. I was out of town and rushed in to see my dog. The pet ER said he wouldn't have much left. Then, someone referred me to Dr. Zerkel who not only saved his life, but brought him back to the trusting dog he was! The total tag would have been over $6k, but she understood we had low incomes, and she was able to help reduce the bill to $3k! She saved my dog, gave us food, and always makes me feel welcomed. I don't have a photo of how maciated my dog was, and how Dr. Zerkel not only saved my pet, but she did it without me having to decide whether or not to pay the power bill to save my life-long companion. I have never seen so much compassion in a regular doctor, so it was unexpected from her. I will forever be grateful for her help!

Susan Klein is the best!!! She spends as much time with your pet as needed, even if that is beyond your appointment length. She listens to you and your pet to find the root of the pets problems. She is conservative in her care, not jumping to costly tests, surgeries and medications. She embraces alternative medicine like acupuncture and chiropractic. The best thing about Dr. Klein is my animals love to go see her! They get so excited to go to her office and "have a chat with Dr. Klein". She is truly one in a million and the animals know that!

Dr. Christensen truly loves all animals. When Reyna was 5 years old, she suffered from a ruptured disc. Dr. Christensen insisted that she would recover when I had considered putting her down. He offered to take her to his home while we waited for the surgery. Sure enough, after surgery she recovered and today is a thriving 9 year old. I could go on and on about Dr. Christensen. I have referred many friends to him and all love him as much as I do.

My vet is the best because he has so much compassion for the animals. He takes his time with them never rushes you out during your visit. Even gives you a tour of the whole practice so you can see what goes on.. He calls back always and quickly.. He has a great manor about him. ANd explains everything to where you understand and doesn't expect you to know what he is saying. He is just an all and all great vet that everyone would want.. He also makes sure he has not only a professional relationship with you but a personal one also.. He even helps out kids that want to become a vet he will let them come in for a day and experience a little of what to expect.. He is just all and all amazing. This is why I feel my vet is the best vet around.. I have had a few over the years also but none as attentive and caring as he is. Also if he isn't sure about something he will get a second opinion with no charge to you.. He is the best compassionate person with animals and people. So I say Hats off to Dr. Christian Hurst!!! May you have many years of success in your practice!!

Dr Henneghan has been caring for my animals for almost 20 years! Her determination, skill, and sensitivity have been a hit with all of my creatures. From daily dressing changes for frostbitten paws to teeth to yearly shots, she is always cheerful and careful and sensible.

About two years ago one of my cats was hit by a car and she was on the verge of dying. We rushed her to Dr. Hack who immediately took her in and literally saved her life. She told us she didn't know if she would survive the first 24 hours but the entire staff worked diligently day and night making sure tigger would survive. Dr. Hack gave us the best Christmas gift that year and let us take tigger home on Christmas Evewe didn't need anything more. Not only did she help tigger but she helped Oreo who had urinary blockages, access wounds and enlarged spleen. She has helped us rescue our other strays princess who came to us with an abcess from a bite wound. I texted Dr Hack who always was available day and night and she saw princess the next morning before her other appointments. She has always been there for all our rescue pets and has saved them more than once. Our pets mean the world to us and she shows how much she truly loves what she does time and time again. We could never repay her for all she has done for our family. The entire office has become part of our family as well!

When my yorkie, Tucker, was suffering from acute Pancreatitis 6 months ago, I called around to find a 24-hour hospital and I came across Durango Animal Hospital. Dr Beerenstrauch (Dr. B) was on call to treat Tucker. Tucker doesn't like going to the vet, so when I brought him there and he was calm and layed down next to Dr. B, I knew this was a special vet. There was a sense of calmness with this vet, and the rest of the staff there. You can tell he is an animal lover. I am so glad I found him, and my little yorkie's health has gotten so much better under his care too!
